We are inviting interested artists to join a - now forming - Apo Chain Pong

The first Chain Pong - Journal here - has been running successfully for a while now.
If you are interested in participating in the Apo Chain - become a link in the chain - there are currently 5 openings.
Reply back in the comments here to reserve a spot.
The Mandelbulb3d Chain has started - See the gallery here.
The Ultra Fractal Chain has started - no openings left!
Here is a link to the Gallery for the Ultra Fractal Chain - see all the details about it there.
In a traditional, classic pong, two artists send the fractal's parameters first to one and then, back to the other. Back & forth. This repeats.
In this new format, we
and join :iconpongorama: if you'd like to reserve a place for yourself.

Dave aka :iconlightbulbmoon: is the host/coordinator (and a participant of the 1st ever MB3D Chain Pong) for this event.

It's both a learning experience and a whole lot of fun!

The Crazy Season is upon us and I relish the thought of escaping from the work-a-day world and the strain of the "Holidays".

Give it a look-see :D

The Dreaded Artist's Block

Sat Feb 22, 2014, 1:52 AM

The Dreaded Artist's Block...and Ways to Overcome it .  :iconscaredplz:....

Artist's block might not fit exactly into the "Artist's Toolbox" week, but we all know about it, we all have probably

experienced it, and we all hope it will never come our way again.

When a person is sick in body, eating is sometimes the LAST thing we want to do.   But it is necessary to speed our way

to recovery.  In the same way, the ideas I would like to set before you may seem like trying to eat something

when you are sick...but these steps may hasten the end of your artist's block.  :iconimdeadplz:

And really, you have nothing to lose in trying these suggestions!

1.  Put DOWN your instrument of art...paintbrush, pencil, pen etc...and go OUTSIDE.

Mountain Lake by Lupsiberg   Roxy 291 by kram666  Iced Over and Over by Damagedoll

You may be absolutely amazed at the world going on around you, no matter where you live.  There will ALWAYS

be something that will catch your eye...something that you haven't seen quite the same way before.  Take a big breath and let your

surroundings nurture you a bit.  Smile at another person....say good morning, or just hello.

Into The Blue by TylerXy  Dragon Adoptables 1.1 by TaNa-Jo  651 by TheDarkenedBride  Commission for Feliane by mckadesinsanity

   2.  Try a different medium to express yourself.  Do you write poetry?  Try sketching with pencil.

Do you paint?  Try photo-manipulation.  Do you create jewelry?  Try pounding some clay. Do you create fractal

images?  Grab your phone or camera and go out to take pictures of nature...or friends.  Do you feel uninspired

by your own photography?  Try working with a fractal/flame software.  (You knew I had to slip fractals into

this journal somewhere!)

3.  Find a Mentor in your chosen field of arts.  This may take a little work on your part, because YOU have

to look around for someone to guide you a bit.   Someone you trust to give you advice for improving

technique as well as inspiring you to continue growing.  I have found that most artists here on Deviant Art

love to help out a beginner or even an uninspired don't have to go through your

artistic "drought" all by yourself.

These are people who have been guidance to me in my own art...and are wonderful Deviant Art advocates.
I think they could even reach Senior member some future day!
So PLEASE do check out their profiles.....and be inspired yourself!

Try to remember that the Education you receive in pursuing art, often comes from people who are...well...better than we are in the chosen craft.  Don't be afraid or too ask for some criticism...I myself Have received some in a couple of different areas....and I hope it will improve all kinds of my art!  There are a LOT of artists listed above here...I could have written twice that number...
but had to stop somewhere.  But I know each of these artists has given me inspiration
or word's of encouragement or directions on completing a task.  I believe they  (or others that YOU find)
will do the same for you!

4.  Now,  I don't want any groaning over this next suggestion.  It is an activity to take your eyes off of

yourself and encourage others...and it is a mainstay in the artistic community.  I am talking about

leaving comments that are MORE than just  "good work"  or  "awesome dude!"

I am guilty of this myself,  but when I DO leave comments that tells the artist different things I

liked about his/her work,  it encourages them as well as sharpening my own eyes...AND

becomes a source of inspiration for you as well  !   Try leaving a comment on at least ONE of these beauties below

that tells WHAT you like about the art OK?

Mfs79 by Dawgit  Sparkle by Nadia116  She Stands And So He Will Never Fall by Samiraku  White Roses by theresahelmer  I bring you scarlet light by crayonmaniac
The Mask of Fate by nightshade-keyblade  Frozen by Mirish  The Lone Oak by Nicolaas-G  Platinum Pearl Bridal Choker by BeadfulStrings  Look at you... by Togaochi  UF09 Romantic Bride by Xantipa2
Sode no Shirayuki cosplay - Snow dance by AngyValentine  Hime by Nateese  Commission1: Ishida Uryuu by hermione2411  SILVER SHINE by GeaAusten  Winter is Next by SuicideBySafetyPin

So, really now!  Try and leave a comment that contains substance about the piece of art being used.  Doing this simple act
can open up new possibilities and ideas in your own brain.  You could even be amazed!  I plan to do some checking
on these submissions to see if anyone wrote a worthwhile comment!

5.  Get INVOLVED with a couple of groups that support whatever kind of art-work you do.  There

are literally thousands of groups on Deviant art that cater to nearly every imaginable

art or craft.   Also join one or two groups that display art you find interesting or

would like to do in the future.  Below is just a sample of the depth and breadth of Deviant Art Groups:

:icondevpremium: :iconcolor-me-club: :iconmastergimpers: :iconrising-artists: :icondawishingwell: :icondazaholics: :iconfantasticfemales:
:iconworld-imaginary: :iconjugnuworld: :iconarthistoryproject: :iconpose-emporium: :iconfindafriend: :iconpsychedelictreasures:
:iconincendia: :iconbleachlife: :icongeometry-art: :iconfractaldreams: :iconprojecteducate: :iconvocaloid-fanclub:
:icontolkien: :iconbestofcosplay: :iconpencil-box: :iconideas-club: :iconimprovement-club:

I know I barely scratched the surface in presenting so many wonderful groups here on Deviant Art.

But I encourage you to explore for yourself...join a new group...make some new friends.

You will continue to grow right on through your uninspired time, and perhaps come back with a

fantastic piece of your own.

Feel free to leave in the comments section below with any and all ways YOU have personally

overcome artist's block :star:

Greetings, philes; sure I'd still like 2 join, thanks for having me on board. Some groups in here have so many submissions, I don't know how you can keep up. Things {like me} are bound to slip through the cracks at some point.
